We have the following configuration:

Netware 6.5.5 server
NSS volumes
Windows XP Pro /4.91 Netware clients and Excel 2003

User complains she gets a message when trying to open a spreadsheet with Excel to the effect that file is open and locked by her.

She does not in fact have it open.

Research via Netware Remote Manager shows who has it open and when one user asks other to close it all is well.

Why is NSS/Netware client/Excel reporting the wrong user having it open? What, if anything, can be done about this so involvement by an administrator is not necessary?
