I would never normally mess with the autoexec.ncf until instructed to do
so by experts, but have been persuaded by certain record write failures of
visual foxpro data records to add to the autoexec.ncf

SET LEVEL 2 OPLOCKS ENABLED = OFF
SET CLIENT FILE CACHING ENABLED = OFF

In preparation, I editted the autoexec.ncf and surprisingly found extras
not added by me or any other human....

added at the top of the file
SEARCH ADD SYS:/extend/mp/bin/netware
SEARCH ADD SYS:\ni\update\bin

a change has been made in the middle of the file
NAMED
DHCPSRVR -D1
has become
NAMED
DHCPSRVR

added at the bottom of the file

SYS:/BIN/UNIXENV.NCF

I have two questions :
(a) can I 'test drive' these two lines I actually want to add by just
entering them on the server console without a server reset after?

(b) what are these other lines in autoexec.ncf not added by any human, and
presumably added by one of the service pack upgrades? NB the direction of
the / in the first line is it is as in the file. Should they stay in?

thanks for your attention and any advice

David
