According to TID 10074523
“NetWare 6.0 and 6.5 user licenses are not interchangeable. NetWare 6.0
user licenses will permit logins only on NetWare 6.0 servers; NetWare 6.5
user licenses will permit logins only on NetWare 6.5 servers. Having both
6.0 and 6.5 user licenses in the tree does not affect anything.“

Is this in fact correct? How does Novell expect you to upgrade a tree
with multiple locations? Buy the upgrade for all my NW 6 clients, which I
would do anyway, and install them alongside the NW 6 user licenses? At
this point aren’t you running the old NW 6 licenses illegally? If a user
at a NW 6 location wanted to access files on a NW 6.5 server would he
just “pick up” a license to 6.5 and run the licenses simultaneously?

I know, lots of questions, but I’d like to understand what Novell was
planning for the process.

Also, what about SUSE? Does the same apply? Do SUSE clients need NW
licenses to access NW servers? All versions?

Thanks
