I started a thread entitled "Out of memory?" on 16 Novemeber 2006 here
because I started getting out of memory messages from SAV, particularly when
it was performing a server scan, after upgrading to version
When I informed Symantec tech support about this, they said others had
reported it, starting about 10 days before me, and that they were
investigating. Subsequent conversations with them found me hearing that the
problem I was experiencing was due to the SERVER.EXE memory leak in NW65P5,
something I fixed as soon as I applied SP5 here. I informed them that I had
taken care of things on my end and that this was their problem as far as I
could tell, and they replied that they were still looking into it.

Today, I found out that they're officially ruled themselves out a culprits
in this one, so I took the opportunity to navigate the web-based interface
to the support forum and gave the Symantec technician a link to the earlier
conversation. I'm posting this new thread because I would like anyone who
has experienced this issue and is running SP5/UPD1 or at least SP5 plus the
server.exe update to reply on it, and I will again point Symantec tech
support to the thread.

If anyone else who has a support contract with Symantec would like to call
them about this issue, you may email me and I will give you my case number
if you would like to mention it.

The scenario is as I posted in mid-November, a pair of error messages on the
console similar to those below:

11-12-2006 1:46:46 am: SERVER-5.70-0 [nmID=6001D]
Cache memory allocator out of available memory.
