Hello!

I have a NetWare 6 SP5 box that has been abending, which seemed to be
cause by one of the dual Qlogic 2300 fibre Channel cards.

We replaced the suspect card ...same issue.
We replaced the riser board and both cards ...same issue.
We replaced the motherboard and riser board ...different issue.....

NOW.....
If I load the Qlogic driver for slot 1 ...I can mount my SAN volumes.
If I load the Qlogic driver for slot 2 ...I can mount my SAN volumes.

If I load both drivers, slot 1 and 2 ...I can't mount the volumes (this is
the way it should work, so this is the problem)

SET MULTI-PATH SUPPORT = ON is in the STARTUP.NCF
The load statements are
LOAD QL2300 SLOT=1 /LUNS /PORTNAMES /ALLPATHS
LOAD QL2300 SLOT=1 /LUNS /PORTNAMES /ALLPATHS

The errors for each volume are similar to this:

Volume PROD has Multiple definitions for segment 0
Volume PROD segment 0 ends at block 239999
and segment 0 starts at block 0
Volume PROD has multiple definitions for segment 1
Volume PROD segment 1 ends at block 335996
and segment 1 starts at block 240000
Definition for sync 1 of volume PROD removed
Definition for volume PROD is invalid

The following TID says that this is " ...basically saying is that there
are two devices that have the same volume name, and the OS can't
determine which one contains the valid volume segment"

This makes me think that the SET MULTI-PATH SUPPORT = ON is not actually
taking effect, but it says it is ON when I type SET MULTI-PATH SUPPORT at
the server console.

I'm thinking that it might be a Netware registry issue.

Any ideas????

Thanks,
Joe
