I am rolling out some new IBM servers.

They have ServeRaid 7k controllers. When configuring the drives I found a new RAID level which I had not seen before, RAID 5EE. Supposedly this is a little faster than regular old RAID 5 (which I normally use). I was wondering if anyone has used this RAID level before and if there was any noticeable performance benefits.

I was also wondering if anyone had any other suggestions for configuring the RAID level.

I have 4 73GB drives. If I use RAID 5, I'll get about 210 GB. If I use RAID 5EE I'll get about 140GB. 140 GB is the same as I'd get if I just set up two RAID 1 drives and mirrored them.

So, any ideas?
