I've been fighting a SAN connectivity issue concerning a new NetWare 6.5
server. I've just attached the server to our SAN and I believe that I
have configured everything properly. However, my SAN connectivity will
not failover properly if one of the two paths goes down.

I've been sure to use the AEN switch when loading the SCSIHD.CMD, I've
shut off the multipathing provided by QLogic via both the /ALLPATHS and
/PORTNAMES switches. I've set a priority of 1 to the primary path and
a priority of 2 to the secondary path. Both connections are showing up
properly when I perform a LIST FAILOVER DEVICES:

0x12 [v597-A1-D0:E] COMPAQ MSA1000 VOLUME VOLUME_NAME (4.98)
Down 0x0F [V597-A2-DO:E] COMPAQ MSA1000 VOLU Priority=2 port =
10000
Up 0x0C [V597-A2-D0:E] COMPAQ MSA1000 VOLU Priority=1 port = A0000
select

However, if I lose the primary path, I get the following error
messages:

8-17-2006 3:44:41pm QL2300-6.80-0
Failover id 0 on slot 10019 due to port timeout

8-17-2006 3:44:41pm COMN-3.20-1092 [nmID=A0025]

The server in question is an HP BL20p G3 blade server running NetWare
6.5 SP1. For attachment to our MSA1500 SAN, we are using a Mezzanine
fibre channel adapter. I was unable to use the most recent HP drivers
(6.91.04 November 11, 2005), but I am able to use the 6.80.06 (July 15,
2004) drivers.

Here are the contents of the serverís STARTUP.NCF file:

LOAD ACPIDRV.PSM
############ End PSM Drivers ############

LOAD CPQSHD.CDM
LOAD SCSIHD.CDM AEN

######## Load Multi-Path Support ########
SET MULTI-PATH SUPPORT=ON

# *** LSIMPE Should Be Loaded Before the HBA HAM drivers.
# *** Unfortunately, the LSI Multipath Enhancer abends the
# *** server when it is run from the STARTUP.NCF.
# LSIMPE.CDM

############ End CDM Drivers ############
LOAD CPQRAID.HAM SLOT=10016

##### Load Mezzanine HBA HAM Drivers ####
LOAD QL2300.HAM SLOT=10019 /LUNS /CONSOLE /ALLPATHS /PORTNAMES
LOAD QL2300.HAM SLOT=10020 /LUNS /CONSOLE /ALLPATHS /PORTNAMES
############ End HAM Drivers ############

You will notice from the remarks within the STARTUP file, that I cannot
load the LSIMPE.CDM from the STARTUP.NCF. If I do so, the server
abends and has to be rebooted. However, if I manually load the LSIMPE
(version 1.00.03 August 4, 2003) after the STARTUP and AUTOEXEC.NCF
have finished running, it loads fine.

To the best of my knowledge all appears to be configured right, with
the exception of the weird issue with LSIMPE. I'm completely at a loss
as to what I'm doing wrong. Can any of you experts steer me in the
proper direction?

Thank you for your time and efforts in this matter.
