Customer insisted on a Windows server with the user names with
firstname.lastname to match their e-mail names.

eDirectory was added to this server and of course you cannot use the names
firstname.lastname in NDS. The backslash username\.lastname comes up.

However, this makes the user have to change their local names each time, ie:
they enter their password, then they get the second screen to change their
name to the dot name and enter their password again to access Windows.

ZENWorks was install on the server to manage workstations.

This is a Windows 2003 server.
Windows XP Pro workstations
Latest Novell Client.

Any ideas on how to make this work with the dot without having to change
