Netware 6.5
Novell Client 4.91.0.20050216
Windows XP SP1

I have a machine that has been working well in the field for the last 4 or 5
months. This morning, it was unable to login to the network. At the Novell
login screen the user enters his user name and password (which I verified as
being correct), and when he clicks OK, a message comes up which reads, "A
required network service has not started. Please check your error log for
details."

I found the following four errors in the System log (in order of
occurrence):

Error 1
-------
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7000
Description:
The Novell NetWare Resource Manager service failed to start due to the
following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

Error 2
-------
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7000
Description:
The Novell Service Location service failed to start due to the following
error:
A device attached to the system is not functioning.

Error 3
-------
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7002
Description:
The Novell Client for Windows service depends on the NetWare Services group
and no member of this group started.

Error 4
-------
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7002
Description:
The Novell DHCP Inform Client service depends on the NetWare Services group
and no member of this group started.

-------
I figure that the first error is probably causing the other 3, but I don't
know what file it is looking for, and the Novell Netware Resource Manager
service does not even appear on the list of services for the machine. In
fact, the only Novell services that are listed are all set for automatic
startup, and they are all started.

The machine in question uses a static IP address, and I verified that all
IP, DNS, and WINS settings are correct.

I had this problem once before, and in that case I had to scrub the hard
drive an re-image the machine, as a reinstall of the Novell client did NOT
fix the problem.

Can anyone tell me what might be causing this problem?
