Using client 4.91 and server 6, I have quite frequent clients losing and
automatically re-establishing connections (over IP).
The standard workstation mapping (processed by the login script) include:
n:=\\server\data
root o:=\\server\sys1\o
root p:=\\server\sys1\p
q:=\\server\mrktg
After reconnect, most of the time - the drive mapping is preserved.
On some occasions - the drive mapping gets all messed up:
n:=\\server\mrktg <=== THIS IS WRONG
root o:=\\server\sys1\o
root p:=\\server\sys1\p
q:=\\server\mrktg
Any attempt to remap the N drive to "\\server\data" (using the NW mapping
tool from the tray, or using the Explorer 'map drive') ends up with the
same result.
When this happens, Explorer shows volume name as "Data", but the contents
is that of "mrktg".
There is no error message shown anywhere.

At this point, in some cases, a forced NW disconnect and Login may fix
things, but in other cases - the messed up drive mapping remains until a
machine restart (or Windows logout and login).

Please advise
