I didn't see anything posted about this and I thought this might be the
best place to try to find a solution.

We are currently running Novell Client 4.91 SP2 (with all the current
patches available but not the beta ones) on Windows XP Professional.

We have several WMV files on a netware share that fail to play back in
Windows Media Player (10 and 11).

When playing back the file I receive an error 'Windows Media Player
encountered a problem while playing the file'. Looking through the web
help section I see nothing except that it could be an issue with a network
resource not being available.

At first I thought it was a problem particular to either the file or
Windows Media Player. I copied one of the files in question to my C drive
and was able to play it back just fine without error. I also copied the
same file to a windows share (on a windows 2003 server), and it also opened
up just fine from that location.

This leads me to believe this may be a problem with either the Novell
Client or perhaps a configuration error on the Netware server. I even
patched the client on a workstation and the error persisted.

Looking around I wasn't able to find any information leading to a resolution.

This problem only seems to happen with WMV files on a netware share. All
other files (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc) seem to work just fine.

If anyone is familiar with this problem and a resolution, I'd greatly
appreciate a reply.
