I've got a question for you that I'm hoping you might be able to shed
light on... I've run into a little wall and I just wanted to run the
scenario past you to see if you'd seen it before.

Sorry, this is a long email, but the important stuff is in bold.... if
you scroll to the bottom you'll see the error I'm getting... the rest
is just an explanation of the setup.

Any input you can provide is appreciated.

Thanks!
Sandon Jurowski

Problem:

I'm getting an error when launching the POA on a clustered resource:

I either get:

"The TCP/IP services on your system may not be configured or
installed."... the POA then exits after hitting enter.

or
po1: post office now open
mtp: po1-ipS0: unable to open connection 0x8926. Address:
xxx.xxx.xxx.140, Port = 7101
po1: post office now closed

I've got clustering set up on a 2-node system... the partitions are set
up and the clustering failover scripts seem to work just fine:

dom1 is the only partion I'm concerned with right now... I'm trying to
get my primary domain to talk to my first post office... they're both
on the same clustered resource in different directories using the same
IP.

I've tried using various ports to make sure there's no conflict, but I
keep getting one of the following errors depending on my configuration:

The domain's MTA seems to start up just fine. Communication between the
MTA and POA, however, doesn't seem to work.

Primary Domain: dom1
Post Office (first, only): po1

POA
MTP Port: 7101
Enable TCP/IP CHECKED
TCP/IP: 144.92.221.140

MTA
Bind Exclusively CHECKED
TCP/IP: 144.92.221.140
MTP Port: 7100

Link between POA and MTA: TCP/IP... agent = POA... IP:
xxx.xxx.xxx.140:7101 ....client/server port: 1677

DNS and Host files on cluster hosts have been updated.

Host servers have been rebooted... no change

When making changes, dom1 and po1 have been "rebuilt" between any
changes, then the entire cluster resource is taken offline and
restarted

MTA and POA agents have been installed into "system" in the shared
volume.

load address space=po1 dom1:\system\gwpoa @po1.poa
================

Using the standard config file (w/ ip, home and cluster flags), the POA
does launch, but this error occurs:

"The TCP/IP services on your system may not be configured or
installed."... the POA then exits after hitting enter.
================

I've found that I can avoid this error using this POA load script line
instead:

LOAD address space=po1 DOM1:\system\gwpoa /cluster /noconfig
/home-\\xxx.xxx.xxx.140\dom1\po1 /ip-xxx.xxx.xxx.140
(tried with and without /port-7101 added)
(I've swapped out the /home switch with the IP address, the name
gwcluster_dom1_server, and the dom1: volume... results are the same)

.....but the resulting error in the domain mta is:

po1: post office now open
mtp: po1-ipS0: unable to open connection 0x8926. Address:
xxx.xxx.xxx.140, Port = 7101
po1: post office now closed
