We are looking for a method to preinstall the print drivers on
workstation. Does anyone know what changes and registry entries must be
made to allow iPrint to use the previously installed local drivers?

Background:

We have machines that connect over 56kb WAN connections. Our printers
are setup using iPrint Direct. If workstations connect to the iPrint
server webpage to install a local printer the driver install fails with
a winsock timeout error.

We have tested that if an iPrint printer is installed on a machine and
then deleted, the next install will succeed in a very short time as the
iPrint client detects that the driver is already installed and does not
redownload it. However if we just install the driver as a local tcp/ip
printer and then delete the printer, iPrint does not recognize the
driver as being installed.

Thanks for any and all comments and insight.
