iPrint Client 4.2

We are running the 4.2 iPrint client on most of our machines (some are
running 4.26) and it seems to me like we have a lot of problems with the
client. For example, I just rolled out a new HP 5550 color laser printer to
a group of users. They wanted the printer configured to print in black and
white by default, and in color only when specified, so that's how I
configured it in iPrint. Well, some employees could not print in color at
all and other could print only in color. We had the same problem with
collating--some users can get multiple copies to print out and collate,
while others get only one copy at a time even when they specify multiple
copies. If I delete all the printers, remove the printer drivers, then pull
off and reinstall the iPrint client, and finally reinstall the printers, all
those problems go away.

We've had this problem repeatedly over the 18 months or so that I've been
working with iPrint. In that time I've worked with the 4.15, 4.2, and 4.26
clients, and they've all had similar issues. Is the iPrint client just that
buggy, or is there something else that might be the problem, like an
outdated Java version or a missing Windows hotfix?
