Hi all

Just mucking around with CIFS so can access a netware volume from a
windows server for a specific application.

I've managed to get it working, if I use IP address --
or if I throw the CIFS name and IP into the HOSTS and LMHOSTS files of
the windows server.

The problem is, the CIFS name is something like "SERVER-W". But this
resource is a cluster resource. I am making the resource exported via
the CIFS ADD command as part of the resource load script, and that
works fine... however, it doesn't change the fact that the CIFS server
name is whatever the physical node is set to.

For example, if the resource is on SERVER1, then the path will be
\\SERVER1-W\volume\directory. If I migrate the resource, the path
will then be \\SERVER2-W\volume\directory, so hence I'll lose access.
Accessing it via IP address continues to work fine even after a
cluster migration.

There must be a way around this, does anyone know what that might be?
The documentation for this stuff is extremely lacking.... it took me
long enough to find out about the cifsctxs.cfg file!!
