We have about 30000 users all with NSS home dirs distributed between 4
Netware 6.5 SP6 servers fronting a SAN (not clustered).

We are testing IDM options syncing eDir userids and passwords to a MAD
(Microsoft Active Directory) and authenticating our Windows workstations
to MAD, mounting home dirs with a CIFS share to our Netware servers. We
have this working in a test environment very well with Vista,
potentially enabling us to deploy Vista as a managed machine for users
without worrying about the Netware client. Group policy and roaming
profiles work seamlessly in this environment.

One of my concerns is the scalability and reliability of CIFS.

Has anyone any experience of CIFS in a large environment?
