We have a Windows 2000 server that is having issues with CIFS connections
to a NW6.5 SP5 server. The idle session timeout on the Windows server is
set to the maximum, so I know that isn't the issue.

What happens is our nightly processes are unable to write to any drive
mappings. If I look at the drives in Explorer, they appear fine. When I
click on one of the drives, I get a connection error. If I disconnect the
drive and attempt to re-map, it'll fail.

By logging off of the console and back on, all of the drives are there and
reconnected to the CIFS shares. They'll stay connected until the next day.
Any nightly processes that attempt to create files on these shares will
fail. Also, we have other servers mapping drives the same way without

I appreciate any insight that can be provided on this.
