I am trying to figure out "DHCP with Automatic Host Name Generation" option in subnet properties under DHCP tab. I have type a unique
name(vl25tt)in "Auto Hostname Start With" under subnet properties. Now
I
have a reverse look up entry for each of the DHCP subnet ip but they
all
pointing to the same host name (vl25tt).

The part I don't understands is this, the bellow information which I
got
it from Novell site, talks about selecting "Dynamic DHCP with
Automatic
Host Name Generation" and type "Host Name Statrs with" value. Than
This
parameter appends a unique integer to the hostname, generating a
unique
hostname for each client. But I don't have unique hostname in my DNS

reverse table, all the DHCP assigned ip address have same host name. Can someone tell me what Am I missing? I want to use Dynamic DNS and

have each workstations unique reverse look entry in DNS. Can this be done? I don't want to use computer name to be the hostname in DNS.

Thanks,

"If the Dynamic DHCP with Automatic Host Name Generation range type is

assigned, the Auto Host Name Starts With parameter can be set. This
parameter appends a unique integer to the hostname, generating a
unique
hostname for each client. Additionally, the name of the DHCP Server
can
be specified by selecting it from the DHCP Server drop-down menu."
