I've been reviewing out current DNS setup on our NW6SP3 servers and
just
want to make sure I'm understanding everything correctly.

We currently have a second level domain name company.com.
We then have sub-domains named cle.company.com, tol.company.com, etc
that
represent each of our remote offices. We then created NS records in
company.com for each of the sub domains. So let's start with that. Is
that
correct?

Now, I want to be able to say ping any server in any sub-domain, from
any
sub-domain. Currently we have created CNAME records to do this. So for

example we have a CNAME called fs1.cle.company.com in the
tol.middough.com.
Is this the best way to do this? Or should we be using the forwarding
lists
instead?

I guess I'm a little confused on how the sub domains know about the
parent
domain. Is it by virtue of the CNAME records or forwarding lists?

Thanks,
Rich
