I have something weird going on. I'm having mail server issues (getting
host down on my own domain etc, showing my mail server pointing at the
wrong internal IP, etc), and I think perhaps it's related to this. It's
a Netware 6.5 SP1 server

If I try and ping mail.packereng.com from my mail server, it shows in
the screen shot...

+------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ping 4.23b NetWare Loadable
Module
+------------------------------------------------------------------------------
+----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Node Sent Received High Low Last Average
Trend
lb 6 6 100% 0.1ms 0.0ms 0.0ms 0.0ms
0.0ms

doing an nslookup on mail.packereng.com from that server shows
Name: mail.packereng.com
Addresses: 192.168.10.251

Which is correct.

I have no idea what the 1b is for the node name. I have no problems
pinging other internal servers by name. If I ping it's other name
npv2.packereng.com I get the same 1b in the node name.

On every other server, it shows correctly:

+------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ping 4.23b NetWare Loadable
Module
+------------------------------------------------------------------------------
+----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Node Sent Received High Low Last Average
Trend
192.168.10.251 10 10 100% 0.8ms 0.4ms 0.4ms 0.4ms
0.5ms

I have the same tcp/ip stack on each server, same version of ping (well
on all of the 6.5 servers anyway) and the same version of named.nlm

NAMED.NLM

The server in question is also one of the internal name servers. I've
tried this on the other internal name server (also 6.5 sp1, same nlm
versions) and it works fine.
