I have seen this mostly in my student population (mostly laptops)But today
one of my staff can not get a dhcp address on his desktop. I can put a
static address on and it works fine. I try to release and keeps on getting
a 169.xxx.xxx.xxx address. when I do a renew it times out saying it
couldn't find the dhcp server. Only thing that is common between the
desktops and laptops is that it is XP sp1. SP2 carries the firewall. So
I'm at a loss why suddenly a few my desktops just stop getting dhcp
addresses. Has anyone seen anything like this? If so maybe head me in the
right direction. Has to be soemthing in windows if a static address works.
Any help would ver very much appreciated. Thanks RJM
