I am looking for a way to restrict access to DHCP by a hostname prefix. I
saw this working at a previous employer two years ago, but do not have
contact info for the techsupport staff at that employer anymore. In that
setup, only workstations with a capital W as the first letter of the
hostname were given IP addresses. All other workstations had to be
statically configured (and therefore more easily monitored)

I am looking for a solution for a client with over 15,000 workstations. I
do already know that inclusions/exclusions can be accomplished through MAC
include/exclude lists, but considering the number of PCs on the network,
it would be impractical to add each MAC (since they are replacing PCs
almost daily).

Any assistance or nudges in the right direction would be appreciated!
