I'm sure this has nothing to do with Novell DHCP but I have had no luck
finding any solutions on Microsofts site. We are running a NW6.5 DHCP
server. On the majority of our WinXP and Win2K clients we are seeing tons of
the following events in the Event Viewer...

Your Computer was not able to renew its address from the network (from the
DHCP server) for the network card with the address blah blah blah. The
following error occurred:
The semaphore period has expired. Your computer will continue to try and
obtain a network address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server.

It has an event ID of 1003 Soure DHCP Type Warning. The machines never
actually lose their addresses but I was wondering if any of you knew what is
causing this and if there is anything we can do to stop it.

I looked up Event ID 1003 and found several things pointing to network
problems, switch problems, NIC driver problems...... I have updated the
drivers on a few of the affected machines, but continue to get the warnings.
There are no apparent network issues according to the universities network
operations group.

I know this has nothing to do with the DHCP server running on Netware as I
see several others having the same issue using Windows DHCP. Just wanted to
try here since you guys seem to always have good suggestions. Thanks in
