Hi there,

my Collection server (ColSvrCore.exe) is running at 100% CPU for a some days now, and ColSvrCoreEvent.log has lots of these:

<EVENT AT="8/14/2007 11:59:44 PM" SEVERITY="Warning">
Message Layer Error in Message Server Error Event Service Host
Implementation specific reason., Host = C0785AE4-03A8-4532-AAA9-115F6C94F38E
Message Layer Error in Message Server Control Layer Service Remote Host
Unrecoverable error, connection aborted.
Message Layer Error in Message Server Control Layer Receive Message
Message Layer Error in Message Server Control Layer Receive Data
Message Layer Error in Socket Receive
Message Layer Error in WinSock Library recv
Socket: 91796, Error Code: 0
</EVENT>

The log as shown in Manager has this for the same event:

"[2.4.501] A network error was encountered while communicating with a remote application."

Stopping the Inventory Process does NOT make any difference, trying to stop the server (from Manager) fails with "Unable to communicate with server"

This is ZAM 7.5 IR3 on Win2k w/MSSql, Enterprise Install, all services on a single server. I tried to run the IR4 Update, but it fails after about an hour or so (btw. same with the latest PRU). Of course the server has been rebooted, but goes back to 100% CPU immediately.

Any idea what this means and what to do about it?

Thanks, Lothar
