Some desktop support techs I'm working with use 20GB USB hard drives
(FireFly) to store images, both for convenience and for imaging at
remote sites. Right now they have to boot from the CD to access the
files on the USB hard drive.

They also use these drives to run some DOS utilities for setting
things like the asset tag value so I can't just convert them into
Linux boot devices.

Does anyone know how to use loadlin to start the standard cd boot
image? I'd need it to run the custom scripts I've written for them so
that they see the same interface from the CD and the USB boot.

I've tried and it loads Linux and initrd but then gives me a goofy
error about having only 4MB of memory. This in a machine with 2GB of

All suggestions welcome and appreciated.
