I'm trying to get the sk98lin.ko driver to work on a laptop. I've added the
driver to the initrd and the driver does load, the problem appears to be
that it does not get an IP address. Already checked portfast on the switch.

In comparison to a computer that does work (one that has a different NIC), I
don't see the line during boot that says something like requesting dhcp.
It's like the driver loaded but did not "connect" to the IP stack. It goes
on to try to load another network card because that one did not work.

Some background info:
compiled the driver on a SUSE 9 SP2 server.

The driver was placed in initrd in

sk98lin was already in /lib/modules/2.6.5-7.244-default/modules.pcimap but
it did not match what was reported by hwinfo (ran hwinfo from a boot CD as I
couldn't get to the prompt from PXE). So I added the correct line to
modules.pcimap. vendor: 0x11ab device: 0x4363

Can anyone point me in the right direction?
