We are currently testing zen 6.5 imaging in our lab. We are moving from an
old version of ghost. Previously we were able to run a server app on a
laptop in the same segment and do all the imaging operations from that
laptop. With zen imaging it looks as if you need a server class OS with
edirectory on it and everything to even start the install of the services.
I don't want all of that, I just want to be able to send out an image
located on a local laptop hard drive to ~30 machines. Is there a way to
install the preboot services and the imaging server apps on to a laptop
without installing edirectory and all of the other stuff? The end result
would be a loptop that can roam from school to school that can do quick
imaging operations when there is no dedicated imaging server in its LAN.
