Hi! I'm testing Zenworks 7 for Desktop, especially for the inventory.
Everything seems to work, but my problem is that I cannot connect to
the database from ConsoleOne.

I've installed the Sybase ODBC drivers from the companion CD, from the
readme (section 4.1) I tested the database "Connection succesful".
But when I create a new data source (section 4.2) with the database
"mw" the test failed "Connection failed: Request to start/stop database
denied".
If I change the database name to "mgmtdb" the test work but in
ConsoleOne it always says "Database Empty".

Can someone help me?

thank you,

Eric.

PS: This is the readme from the Zenworks 7 companion CD2:

4. Detecting proper installation of Sybase ODBC
driver........................

4.1. Connecting with Inventory or Remote Management
database................

a) Open the ODBC Data Source Administrator from Start->Settings
->Control Panel->ODBC Data Sources.

b) Within the ODBC data source administrator window, select "Sybase
ODBC
Driver" under User Data Sources and click the Configure button.
This
would bring up the ODBC Configuration for Adaptive Server
Anywhere
dialog.

c) Click the "Login" tab and ensure the user id and password are
entered
correctly. The User ID should be "mw_dba" and the Password
"novell".

d) Click the "Database" tab. For Server Name, Enter the IP address
of the
system where Sybase is running. Ensure that the Database name is

entered as "mgmtdb".

e) Click the "Network" tab. Check the TCP/IP option and specify the
host
name or IP Address of the system running Sybase. It should be of
the
form "host=<IP Address>" where <IP Address> is the IP address or
host
name of the system running Sybase.

f) Click the "ODBC" tab. Click the button "Test Connection". You
should
get the message "Connection Successful". This means that the
Sybase
ODBC driver has been configured correctly.
If you get an error message, repeat the above steps.

4.2. Connecting with Management and Monitoring Services
database.............

a) Open the ODBC Data Source Administrator from Start->Settings
->Control Panel->ODBC Data Sources.

b) Within the ODBC data source administrator window, click ADD under

User Data Sources (User DSN) tab. This would bring up the
Create New Data Source dialog.

c) In Create New Data Source dialog select Adaptive Server Anywhere
8.0 from
driver list and click Finish. This would bring up the ODBC
Configuration
for Adaptive Server Anywhere dialog.

d) In the ODBC Configuration for Adaptive Server Anywhere dialog
Enter the
Data Source Name as MMSTest in "ODBC" Tab.

e) Click the "Login" tab and Supply the user id and password. The
User ID
should be "mw_dba" and the default Password is "novell".

f) Click the "Database" tab. For Server Name, Enter the IP address
of the
system where Sybase is running. Enter the Database name as "mw".

g) Click the "Network" tab. Check the TCP/IP option and specify the

host name or IP Address of the system running Sybase. It should
be of the
form "host=<IP Address>" where <IP Address> is the IP address or
host
name of the system running Sybase.

h) Click the "ODBC" tab. Click the button "Test Connection". You
should get
the message "Connection Successful". This means that the Sybase
ODBC
driver has been configured correctly.
