Hi,
We're using the following format to map users to our Netware servers: MAP
ROOT G:=.NETWARESERVER_DATA.OU.OU.O:\SOMEFOLDER

There is a signficant delay when the login script executes because of (what
I believe to be) a name resolution problem. We map to three different
severs, each one in a different physical location, and the delay only occurs
with one particular server. If I substitute the current mapping command for
our "problem server" with a UNC path (MAP ROOT
G:=\\192.168.0.1\data\SOMEFOLDER), the delay goes away.

My question: Where does the name resolution take place--at the server or the
workstation? Is the name resolution happening through DNS or SLP?

We're running a pure IP environment and our Novell Client's protocol
preferences tab is configured to to use NDS and SLP.

Thanks,
John S.
