Yes - this a question about the DOS client. I hope this newsgroup will
pardon this trespass as we all know DOS is no longer supported ;-) ...

Has anyone confirmed that the DOS Client32 boot environment will connect
and log into OES2?

We use this boot environment all the time with Netware (IPX), and I have
been working with a TCP based Client32 boot disk which connects and logs
into a Netware 6.5 server just fine. However, when I try to connect to an
OES2 server (which other XP TCP NCP clients can talk to just fine), I get
an error that a server can not be found... I can PING the server by IP
just fine from this environment, its just that the client will not
connect for log in...

I've been making, modifying, and using Client32 DOS boot disks for years
so I don't expect this is something trivial. OES2 appears to have the DOS
login support files on the SYS volume, but again, my TCP env is good as I
can PING the server but still no NCP connection. PREFERRED SERVER is set
by IP as well... I've also tried a bunch of newer NLM's that I have
archived in a collection of Win9x Client32 updates without success (so
I've resorted back to the collection which has always worked well in the
past)

Does anyone actually have a DOS client32 boot disk working with OES2? I
would certainly be interested in the NET.CFG contents and the time/date
stamps on the Client32 files...

Please remember that this disk works fine when connecting to a Netware 6.5
server over TCP but does not work when trying to connect to an OES2
server. Also, XP NCP clients can connect to the OES2 server just fine.
So it appears that this is some manifestation of communication between the
DOS TCP Client32 and OES2 NCP services specifically.
