Our campus has been allowing users to log into eDir and access Novell
resources from off campus w/o the use of a VPN. I've always been under
the impression that this is a big no-no however I've not had much luck
finding documentation to back that up. Our servers have public IP
addresses so NAT is not an issue. Disregarding the obvious performance
issues, are there documented security issues that would make this a bad
idea? If not, is leaving port 542 open enough or are there others?
What about slp?
