I've always wondered about this.
Symantec does not make a BackupExec for Linux. Yes, you can buy the
AGENT, but that requires a Windows or NetWare (for now) server to run
the media server on.

What about all those companies/SMB with just linux boxes?

Seems Symantec expects them to fork out $4,000 or so for NetBackup
(which is MAJOR overkill for small business, IMO).

I wonder why that is?

Do that many people really like to script tar commands and whatnot?
(maybe, I don't know).
