Hi All,

We've had CIFS running on NW6.5 for at least 2 years now sharing our backup software's index cache between windows and netware. Has worked without issue all that time. Various SP's over the time, generally within 1 SP of current the whole time..

Last week upgraded to SP7 and we now have a random error deleting directories. Happens from any MS workstation/server to the share and we've replicated the error on another server that previously had no CIFS config.

2 out of 5 delete directory attempts fail. Deleting files seems fine. Creating files and folders is fine. Authentication is fine... Context is fine etc. Both the primary and the test server where we replicated the issue are SP7 but with edir 8.7.3.9 ssp204 and edir 882 ssp205. Didn't seem to make a diff..

All current SP7 patches have been applied.. tcp, wsock, comn, libc etc.

All config looks good. We can't bakgrade the nlm's as they're tied to nss. We can't backgrade the service pack as we don't take backups as we upgrade via zfs which by default (I think) doesnt keep one....

Is anybody else seeing this issue?? There are no TID's relevant except for the SP6 version of CIFS and for VISTA issues..

We are waiting for our support contract to be renewed, mean while we're stuck with problematic backups etc....

PS.. Commvault Galaxy 6.1 for those who use it don't support NW6.5 SP7, only up to SP6 currently. We need to upgrade to Simpana 7 to support latest NW6.5 Sp7. Which is why this other CIFS based issue of the shared cache is first priority to fix.

Thanks in advance for any help.....
