Novell server based DNS/DHCP stores too many IP addresses in its table. Sooo if a client machine pulls three different IP addresses (ie if it were taken to three different buildings) then a lookup on their hostname ends up returning all three IP addresses.

running a lookup on my laptop's hostname:
host hancock.school.org
hancock.school.org has address 10.1.100.92
hancock.school.org has address 10.1.100.219
hancock.school.org has address 10.1.101.7
hancock.school.org has address 10.1.103.189
hancock.school.org has address 10.1.104.41
hancock.school.org has address 10.1.100.17
hancock.school.org has address 10.1.100.87

(only one of those is correct, and that time it was the 3rd one down)

I am at a loss as to how to get the dns server to shed the old information... seems to me there should be an option to remove the old entry as the DHCP server feeds in a new entry.

However, as well as I can describe the problem, I can't seem to find any solutions - I am sure I am just not using the right novell nomenclature to be able to find the solution (and the in-house Novell guy doesn't know where to adjust this in console1)

thanks for any help
