My University is looking to purchase a new Storage Area Network to house our Groupwise mail database, home directories, and virtual machine images to run in VMWare ESX. We have two options we're considering one is a NetApp FAS 2050 and one is an HP EVA 6000 or 4400.

Both storage area networks are configured with 10TB fast and 10TB slow disk. Fast being 15k RPM Fiber attached drives and slow being SATA.

My question is does anyone have experience with both of these vendors products with Netware NSS Volumes? Given the choice between a NetApp and HP EVA which would you choose and why?

Neither platform supports block level single file restores in snapshots of NSS Volumes so my guess is I'd still have to do that with NSS Pool snapshots which we do not currently have turned on.
