The following is showing up in the system log. Server is OES NW65sp6 (is master replica), and is running CA Brighstor 11.3sp3, betrieve 8.50.

6-13-2008 2:57:53 am: SERVER-5.70-3728
Severity = 0 Locus = 17 Class = 21
Server logical address space is running low. File Cache Maximum Size has been set to 1387285504.

On 6/16/08 I reset mem to default 2147483648 and bounced server. Monday ran a full backup, tues, wed, an incremental and friday a full backup. Already on 6/20/08 logical mem is low again.

I have been troubleshooting this issue since 2/08 when I noticed it was happening. Every few weeks memory runs low.

I have changed the following as suggested by Novell backup forum and this forum:

Edited smsstart.ncf
Load TSAFS /CacheMemoryThreshold=1

Edited autoexec.ncf:
rem out afpstrt and cifsstrt
rem out the psa command
rem out script.ncf
rem out startx

Changed bti.cfg cachesize setting to the default value 16384 and the MaxCacheUsage to 10 as suggested in the backup forum.

Each time before I reboot server I check these settings are in place:
set Auto Tune Server Memory=on
set File Cache Maximum Size=2147483648
set VM Cache Pool Percentage=80
set VM Cache Pool Maximum Pages Percentage=0
set FS Cache Pool Minimum Pages=1000
set FS Cache Pool Desired Pages=1250
set FS Cache Pool Lots of Pages=1500

This was also happenning on other OES 65sp6 servers that were NOT running CA Brighstor, some were running btrieve 8.5 and some 7.x. After making the above changes it solved problem for these servers. However, for the above particular server running arcserve its still happening. Arcserve does not have any updates. I'm guessing its a btreive.nlm issue that maybe someone can help me solve.

I was reading TID 3920657 and it looks like its also an issue with SP7.
According to this TID, I should also edit tsa.cfg, cache memory threshold and buffer size?? and to set a hard limit on RAM that DS uses?? I'm not sure i feel comfortable doing these settings or totally understand it. Installing SP7 may not fix problem either.

Attached is the segstats.txt and the bit.cfg files. If anyone can suggest what to do after reviewing these files, I appreciate it very much.

Thank you.
