I already posted this under linux administration and got some answers back but seek further clarification about at what level to run the file fix routins, at the linux level or the NSS level.

Suse Linux 9.0 OES SP2

We had a disk go down in the array (RAID5) which seems to have taken out one of the pools and a couple of the volumes.

The disk has been built back into the array, but we are still missing the above with the following error messages being sent to the screen during the boot process.

1 - the underlying linux file structure for the TED_DIST volume appears to be intact (i.e. you can putty terminal into the file server console and cd down through /media/nss/TED_DIST and see the underlying file system (but not the _NETWARE directory), but the NSS volume will not mount and so the files are not available to novell clients, possibly because the APPS pool is corrupted?

2 - the underlying linux file structure for the FILES volume seems to have disappeared completely (i.e. you can putty terminal into the server console and cd down to /media/nss/FILES and then the only thing that is viewable from there is the _NETWARE directory.

When we try to mount these drives then we get the following errors:

wotton:~ # mount FILES
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on FILES,
or too many mounted file systems

mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on TED_DIST,
or too many mounted file systems
wotton:~ #

(Although TED_DIST must already be mounted, otherwise how could we cd down to it from the terminal).

Do we need to perform a linux level file check first using one of the fsck utilities or just perform an NSS level repair using ravsui and the /poolrebuild and /poolverify options?

Many thanks in advance :)
