We are in the process of cleaning up over 6000 lines of login scripts that have become quite messy after 13 years of changes and updates by some less than talented admins. We have about 20 container scripts and about 50 profile scripts. The person currently heading up the login script project has suggested eliminating profile scripts and only have container scripts. Instead of profile scripts we would use group memberships with a lot of "IF MEMBER OF" statements in the container scripts. His argument is it is easier to maintain 20 container scripts than 70 container + profile scripts. My opinion is we should clean up but retain the profile scripts. Note we have a lot of employees that frequently change positions within the company so their login script assignments change.

Any other opinions on this? Thanks.
