Well, it's been almost a week since I had to be admitted to the hospital
for what turned out to be ruptured lumbar disks pinching one of my
sciatic nerves. What a pain! I've never felt anything that intensely
painful or debilitating. Fortunately, aside from an MRI and a few
epidural injections of anti-inflammatories, I was able to go home after
a few days and nights of carefully calibrated and monitored IV-drip
painkillers and sedatives. Now for a long series of PT and strengthening
exercises, the inflammation should recede without invasive spinal
surgery. Nothing like a spinal injury to make one appreciate the little
things in life that make all the difference.
