Hi,

I've configured DDNS according to TID 3372644. DHCP works, but does not
write A-/PTR-Records into the DNS server.

/var/lib/dhcp/db/dhcpd.leases shows entries for new leases, but no info
for DDNS ("set ddns-rev-name=...", "set ddns-fwd-name=...").

Instead, /var/log/messages shows entries like:

httpd2-worker: IPCCLNT -SubmitReq- Channel unavailable
httpd2-worker: IPCCLNT -SubmitReq- Will attempt to retry RPC, count = 2
httpd2-worker: XSrvCChannel::connectSocket- Connection creation failed,
error = 2
httpd2-worker: XSrvCChannel::init- Connection creation failed, error = 2
httpd2-worker: IPCCLNT -getCChannel- Channel Initialization failed for
socket /var/opt/novell/xtier/xsrvd/srv-socket-9
httpd2-worker: IPCCLNT -SubmitReq- Channel unavailable
httpd2-worker: IPCCLNT -SubmitReq- Will attempt to retry RPC, count = 3

Are these messages related to my DDNS problem?

I've found TID 3595588, telling that these messages represent a file
system rights problem with xtier directories. I checked the rights of
/var/opt/novell/xtier/xregd and found out, that a group "suse-ncc" is
listed there, instead of novlxtier.

novlxtier does exist, but "getent group" shows the same ID for novlxtier
and suse-ncc: 105!

suse-ncc:!:105:
novlxtier:x:105:novlxregd,novlxsrvd,wwwrun

I think, this might have been caused by the SLES9/OES1 server, we have
in our network. SLES9 does not show suse-ncc, therefor the IDs are
unique on this server.

Question: how can I modify the ID of novlxtier? What changes have to be
made afterwards (modify services, modify file system rights, ...)??!

Thanks in advance,
Frank
