Hello,

In our current Netware 6.5 SP7 configuration we have one server (our master replica server) configured as a "SINGLE" time server. It has:

TIMESYNC Configured Sources = On
TIMESYNC Time Sources = dnsName:123; dnsName:123
TIMESYNC Type = SINGLE
Default Time Server Type = SINGLE

All other servers are configured as "SECONDARY" with:

TIMESYNC Configured Sources = Off
TIMESYNC Time Sources =
TIMESYNC Type = SECONDARY
Default Time Server Type = SECONDARY

This configuration has worked for us for about 5 years... however in a recent support call with Novell they recommended that we configure our secondaries to point explicitly at the single. I assume this would mean that on all secondaries we change the TIMESYNC Configured Sources to On and then add the dns name of the single to the TIMESYNC Time Sources, so our secondaries would look like:

TIMESYNC Configured Sources = On
TIMESYNC Time Sources = single.domain.edu
TIMESYNC Type = SECONDARY
Default Time Server Type = SECONDARY

Does this sound reasonable? If this is really necessary how have our secondaries been finding the single? SLP?

Thanks,

Gary
