We recently experienced significant power outages as a result of
Hurricane Gustav. When the power was restored, the sequence in which
servers came up was such that our ZCM servers came up before our
Netware servers, which contain the LDAP directories which ZCM connects

As a result, the ZCM servers could not authenticate users in the
absense of a working LDAP server.

Is there any alerting capability built into ZCM which would allow me
to receive a message when LDAP connectivity fails? I had my hands
full with other problems resulting from the Hurricane and didn't think
to review this connectivity until users started complaining about
login problems.

(of course, if ZCM polled periodically, it would have seen the LDAP
directory eventually coming online and there wouldn't be a problem.
