When connecting to a secure site on a Windows server on the local
network (private IP) FireFox gives the following error:

"server.mydomain.com uses an invalid security certificate.

"The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is unknown.

"(Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)"

IE also complains "There is a problem with this website's security
certificate."

FF will let you import the cert, IE will let you continue to the site.

The Win server is not in the directory tree, but I don't notice that
this makes any difference as a server that is in the directory tree also
gives certificate errors.

But, is there any way of getting rid of these pesky messages for servers
on the private LAN?
