Not sure if this is the right forum, but here goes.
We are starting to roll out XP to our users( yes I know, its years old)
and finding that it hangs the desktop when the Application Launcher
completes. All the icons from the Launcher are white, you can't click on
anything. You can call the Windows Task Mgr, kill explorer.exe and
then restart it and most times it is then fine. I've scoured the
internet and made these changes which have helped some.....
1.Disabled the SSDP Discovery Service
2.In Control Panel, Regional and Language Options, turn off advanced
text services.
It still happens randomly and with the student policies, they don't have
the ability to use the Task Manager to stop and restart explorer.exe.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any help appreciated.
