Last month I upgraded our NW6sp5 cluster to NW6.5sp6. We currently have about 50 Macs OSX accessing a couple of volumes using AFP. There can be 500,000 files in a single folder - jpgs - mostly under 100k.

Our Mac users are complaining of slow performance accessing the files on this volume, I have conflicting stories that it started before the upgrade or that they think the upgrade caused it.

Either way. I've changed the threads used by AFP to 2 as documented in Novell's TID. I do notice that on one of the volumes there is a desktop.afp dated from 2007 and on another volume where they are specifically complaining about speed I see a desktop folder with a .localized in it but no desktop.afp. I'm thinking this might be an issue?
