We have just switched our Groupwise to authenticate into A/D via LDAP and we don't have any remaining netware servers for file serving abilities so we've removed all the netware clients from the desktops (with exceptions for admins).

I know that Messenger 2.x authenticates into eDirectory and that there is no way to use LDAP to authenticate into A/D (at least, not without jumping through some major hoops).

Right now, as far as the users are concerned, their edirectory password is called their messenger password. But is there a way to simply have messenger not require a password? If I uncheck the "require password" box in a user's e/d account, messenger will not allow them to log in. Is there a work around for this? I'd love to be able to remove all dependencies on eDirectory's passwords at this point.
