I have been trying to replace my current Netware 6.5 SP7/Zen 6.5 server with SLES10.1/OES2/ZCM10.1.1 for about a month now.

1) Waited for OES2 then after reading the docs, hunting forums for issues, I built the server in test a setup, I keep notes of all the setup steps, everying looks good. Did this twice!

2) OK, I know the steps and have spend hours reading docs and the forums, so I build it again and add it to our tree. Looks good, I let it sit for a week then ZCM not running, then learned about ZCM 10.1.1 coming soon. OK I wait but then iManager stoped working? Do ZCM use forms to look into iManager issue comes down to bad build? So I rebuild again. Now this is a fairly basic build.

3) Rebuild SLES10.1/OES2/ZCM10.1 upgrade to ZCM 10.1.1 right away and let sit for a week everything working.
Set time for when no one will be on system, run backups and I am ready for the migration using OES Netware migration tool in SLES... But it starts copying then fails after 20 mintues? I try it again, this time it just closes without error? Reboot both servers incase something is hung, this time it copies a few hundred files and stops? I try again? Last log entry each time is just the last file copied? Hunt forums someone talkes about using migedir instead, hmm maybe. That also start coping files but when it stops, now I no longer have acess to the new servers VOL1? I am done/quiting/finished for today!

Back to test that the original server is good, shut down new server

Here is every step I took to build this server, a fairly basic build I think but not happy!

From NetWare to OES2 Linux Migration Guide | Novell User Communities
After the OES installation is complete, you must perform the following tasks to ensure that the system device functions properly under EVMS:

Disable boot.lvm and boot.md so they do not run at boot time. EVMS now handles the boot.
In YaST, click System > System Services Runlevel > Expert Mode.
Select boot.lvm.
Click Set/Reset > Disable the Service.
Select boot.md.
Click Set/Reset > Disable the Service.
Click Finish, then click Yes.
Do not reboot the server yet!

Enable the boot.evms Service
The boot.evms service should be enabled automatically after the install, but you should verify that it is enabled.
In YaST, click System > System Services Runlevel > Expert Mode.
Select boot.evms.
Click Set/Reset > Enable the Service.
The B runlevel option is automatically selected.
Click Finish, then click Yes.
Do not reboot the server yet!

Edit the /etc/init.d/boot.evms Script
Open the /etc/init.d/boot.evms script in a text editor.
Add the following lines to the Stop section:

mount -n -o remount,rw /
echo -en "\nDeleting devices nodes"
rm -rf /dev/evms
mount -n -o remount,ro /

The Stop section looks like this after the edit:
stop)
echo -n "Stopping EVMS"
mount -n -o remount,rw /
echo -en "\nDeleting devices nodes"
rm -rf /dev/evms
mount -n -o remount,ro /
rc_status -v
;;

Save the file.
Finally! Reboot the Server
