Question regarding the use of IRF's in the file system.

Netware Administration - Wikibooks, collection of open-content textbooks - states Use of IRFs should be minimal

CIS - Centre for Internet Security states that "Inherited rights filters (IRF) are used to block rights inheritance in the tree. This method of limiting
access should be used sparingly, because it becomes difficult to determine where rights are being inherited"

and several administration courses that I've participated on have stated the same and was the general rule of thumb.

Can someone confirm or state otherwise is this still the suggested practise by Novell?
