Hi!

I succeeded to install a NOWS SBE 2 server (eDir & iMannager not installed yet).

The disks are partitioned as follows:

WEB-Suse:~ # fdisk -l

Disk /dev/sda: 500.1 GB, 500107862016 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 60801 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 1 131 1052226 82 Linux swap / Solaris
/dev/sda2 * 132 60801 487331775 fd Linux raid autodetect

Disk /dev/sdb: 500.1 GB, 500107862016 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 60801 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdb1 * 132 60801 487331775 fd Linux raid autodetect

Disk /dev/md0: 499.0 GB, 499027607552 bytes
2 heads, 4 sectors/track, 121832912 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 8 * 512 = 4096 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System

Disk /dev/sdc: 4063 MB, 4063232000 bytes
5 heads, 32 sectors/track, 49600 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 160 * 512 = 81920 bytes

Since I'm not satisfied with the partitions, I consider to reinstall the server from scratch.

After the installation I read the help on the new server and discovered information about LVM & EVMS.

The questions are:
1.Is it possible to configure raid 1 (mirroring) with LVM or EVMS? Is it worth?
2.Can the Linux swap partition be on a raid 1 partition? Shall I create it there?
3.I wish to have volumes as I have in Netware. It will be right to create them the following way:
1.Create a small partition (raid1) md0 (10-20 GB) for the / (root). Can I label it root or Sys?
2.Create a second partition (raid1) md1 (20GB) labeled APPLIC containing the HTDOCS folder for the WEB site.
3.Create a third partition (raid1) md2 (60GB) labeled MYSQL containing the DATA folder for the MySQL Data Base.
4.Create a raid partition on the remaining space.
4.Any other suggestions?

TIA
