I see some dramatic speed difference on Mac between samba and afp.

Test:
Server: Linux OES2 SP1.
Share: NSS volume
Copy a 190MB file to the client from server, and back.

Results:
SMB:
Server -> Client: ~33sec (Mac OS X 10.5.6); ~40sec (Mac OS X 10.3.9)
Client -> Server: ~30sec (Mac OS X 10.5.6); ~36sec (Mac OS X 10.3.9)

AFP:
Server -> Client: ~3:13min (Mac OS X 10.5.6); ~3:30min (Mac OS X 10.3.9)
Client -> Server: ~6:02min (Mac OS X 10.5.6); 2 hours was estimated, haven`t waited to finish (Mac OS X 10.3.9)

Is there some tuning parameters for afp that I`ve overlooked? Or this is something that we have to live with?

Any help, idea, hint or question about the setup and test are welcome.

Thanks and regards,
Tamas
